Bizkaiko Foru Aldundia is taking a big step towards sustainability and biodiversity. In an initiative supported by 3.4 million euros from the European Union, the planting of invasive species, such as eucalyptus and pine trees, is being replaced with native oak trees on 200 hectares of the territory.
This project seeks not only to recover the lost forest balance, but also to strengthen the local ecosystem and give back to Bizkaia a more diverse and healthy landscape. By planting more than 100,000 native trees (oak, ash, cherry, hawthorn and more), it promotes an environment that supports biodiversity and creates a natural legacy for future generations.
From Compostree, we encourage and request that priority be given to the use of certified sustainable and compostable materials, in order to achieve a truly coherent and environmentally friendly forestry recovery.
